About the Role

Join Easterseals NY- Bronx Child Development Center as a Teacher Assistant in our preschool program. You will work under the supervision of the classroom teacher, assisting in the care of students' physical and emotional needs, supervising the class, and attending required meetings.

Responsibilities

• Aid the transfer of children to and from buses each day.
• Perform checks of children as they arrive at school to assure physical health and document any issues.
• Work as a team member with the teacher and other teacher assistants designing developmentally appropriate activities for children.
• Prepare the classroom each day for activities.
• Maintain a clean environment at all times after activities.
• Participate in group activities for students.
• Work with individual students on activities specified in their IEP.
• Aid children as necessary during meal and snack times.
• Assure children transfer safely within the building and to the playground and back.
• Utilize PBIS and social/emotional learning strategies with all children.
• Help children regulate their behavior when necessary.
• Participate in meetings and staff development provided.

Requirements

• High School education or GED, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Two (2) years practical experience working with children is preferred.
• Level I NYS Teacher Assistant Certification.

• 10 month position with the option to work summer (extended school year)

• $17.00-$22.00 per hour (depending on experience)
