About the Role

The WIC Office Assistant serves as the first point of contact for participants, screening them for benefits eligibility and providing support for scheduling and program explanation. This role is critical in linking participants with other WIC personnel and ensuring a positive experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for participants via telephone or in person.
  • Screen WIC applicants for benefits eligibility using NYS criteria for category, residency, and income.
  • Provide support for scheduling and program explanation.
  • Foster an exceptional participant-centered environment.
  • Ensure full compliance with Federal and State Regulations.
  • Contribute to improved clinical outcomes.
  • Maintain compliance with In-House policy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of accounting experience preferred.
  • A combination of experience and training sufficient to indicate ability to do the work.
  • Familiarity with keyboard and typing at 25 wpm.

  • Proficient arithmetic skills.
  • Proficient writing/communication skills.
  • Proficient interviewing skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Effectiveness in handling difficult situations.
  • Bilingual language skills in Spanish, Arabic, Burmese, Karen, Nepali, or Somali preferred.
