About the Role
The Restaurant Shift Manager administers, directs, and controls the effective and efficient operation of restaurants on a shift-to-shift basis, adhering to Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies, procedures, and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Train associates to meet or exceed performance objectives, providing necessary tools and supplies.
- Evaluate and direct personnel, including providing disciplinary action when needed.
- Ensure all products served meet established specifications and standards.
- Participate in weekly management meetings.
- Maintain control of restaurant situations, including handling guest and employee complaints.
- Report incidents to appropriate supervisors.
- Assure prompt, professional service to all guests.
- Approach tables and speak with guests to obtain feedback on their dining experience.
- Handle administrative duties such as scheduling, payroll, filing, and HR issues.
- Advise management of daily problems and needs, utilizing resources to maximize profits.
- Complete daily reports, including the Daily Manager Report and Incident Reports.
- Prepare necessary paperwork and order supplies and equipment for an efficient, customer-oriented operation.
- Communicate regularly with associates, informing them of casino activities and events, and acting as a liaison between management and associates.
- Ensure staff behavior and appearance comply with established standards.
- Share accountability for achieving cost, labor, and expense goals.
- Evaluate staff performance on a ninety-day and annual basis.
- Maintain a current understanding of and comply with all information security policies and procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service, communicating in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner.
- Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff.
- Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
- Complete all required SGC Training programs within nine months of employment.
- Attend all necessary meetings.
Requirements
- Must demonstrate leadership, fairness, and sensibility to customers and employees.
- Must possess the ability to instill a sense of pride and personal responsibility in subordinates.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have general knowledge of all phases of full-service dining.
- Must be computer literate, including a working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications and restaurant automated systems.
- Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
- Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
- Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and use fingers/hands for lifting and grasping.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty pounds.
- Must be able to perform repetitive motions.
- Must be able to talk to and hear customers/co-workers.
- Must be able to assist with special needs of customers.
- Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity.
- Must be able to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.
- In the absence of fully qualified candidates, some requirements may be waived.
