About the Role

This role involves teaching EDEE 260 710 Reading Methods-K/Elem, focusing on elementary education methods and materials for teaching reading. The course is scheduled for Fall 2026, with contract dates from September 14 to November 6, 2026, and course dates from September 29 to October 22, 2026. Classes will be held online on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and in-person on Thursdays from 5:30 PM to 8:45 PM in Kanehsatà:ke.

Responsibilities

Teach EDEE 260 710 Reading Methods-K/Elem
Deliver elementary education methods and materials for teaching reading
Modify the course to the educational, social, and cultural context of the community
Participate in course coordination and planning activities prior to the course start date

Requirements

A Master’s degree (or significant research or professional experience related to course content)
Expert knowledge of course content
Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP) and the curriculum of the partnering school board
Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified in the Ministère de l’Éducation
Knowledge of the impact of colonialism on Indigenous communities
Proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Experience as a teacher, administrator, and/or consultant in the partnering school board
Experience teaching in the Quebec elementary school system
Previous successful experience teaching similar courses to pre-service teachers
Previous successful experience teaching similar courses in Indigenous communities
Experience developing curriculum, instructional approaches and/or policy grounded in Indigenous knowledge and pedagogies
Adherence to evolving program requirements concerning course content and program-developed competencies
Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience with Indigenous issues in First Nations and Inuit contexts
English communication skills (verbal and written)
