About the Role
Arcadis is seeking an Interior Designer to join the Workplace Hospitality team in the Toronto office. This role involves leading interior design projects from concept to completion, working with diverse clients and managing complex assignments. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, and self-motivated, delivering high-quality solutions across multiple project stages.
Responsibilities
- Promote design excellence through team collaboration.
- Advance innovative design concepts that are practical, aesthetic, safe, and conducive to intended purposes and function, reflecting client goals and project budget.
- Lead efforts on different project types, adhering to program and budget.
- Conceptualize and describe design ideas through 3D visualization and hand-sketching.
- Perform selections and specifications of finish materials and furniture.
- Lead the preparation of design and construction documents to generate detailed design solutions.
- Interface with clients, contractors, and consultants; lead project meetings and client presentations.
- Develop solutions to technical and design problems following established standards.
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural, lighting, audio-visual, and communications consultants.
- Organize and prioritize own work efforts and assist with organizing team members, tasks, and meetings.
- Administer contract documents, bids, and negotiations, including construction administration.
- Review shop drawings and submittals, and respond to RFIs.
- Mentor and train junior designers.
Requirements
- A professional degree in Interior Design.
- 8+ years of experience in interiors with a focus on corporate workplace design, with the ability and interest to work in different sectors.
- Excellent written, verbal, and graphic communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of the design process, including specification of materials and FF&E.
- An understanding of building codes.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Google Sketch Up, Adobe Suite, and graphic design.
- Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and motivation to learn.
- Ability to collaborate with team members and follow instructions.
- Hospitality and Residential experience is essential.
- Outstanding organizational skills are necessary for success.
