About the Role

The Global Insurance Client Solutions (GICS) team is seeking a Principal to lead liability origination efforts, focusing on sourcing, evaluating, and executing reinsurance and capital solutions opportunities. This senior role involves managing client relationships, orchestrating cross-functional teams, and mentoring junior members, with significant ownership over the team's commercial agenda and direct engagement with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the pitching and origination of liability solutions, owning the development of new client relationships and the deepening of existing ones.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, directing ongoing dialogue and driving the client management process.
  • Work with reinsurance pricing/deal teams and the firm's insurance business to structure and execute reinsurance transactions, and to shape the deal pipeline and market positioning.
  • Work with Finance/Operations/Compliance/Legal professionals to manage complex client engagements and execution matters.
  • Provide direction and oversight to junior team members, providing mentorship, review, and development.
  • Own the strategic narrative and quality of product pitch materials, bespoke proposals, and supporting analyses.
  • Manage and resolve high-priority, client-specific initiatives and follow-up requests.
  • Lead transactions and play a central role in the end-to-end client management process.
  • Lead financial analysis to evaluate new business opportunities and assess existing business trends, framing findings for senior decision-makers.
  • Direct and oversee transaction processes from initiation through completion.

Requirements

  • Approximately 6-10+ years of relevant experience at an investment bank, (re)insurance company, asset management firm, or private equity firm in an M&A/structuring, corporate development, and/or senior client-facing role.
  • Deep, hands-on experience with insurance M&A, corporate finance, capital markets, and a sophisticated understanding of the (re)insurance market and strategies.
  • Direct experience structuring and executing (re)insurance transactions and insurance capital solutions is strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding analytical rigor combined with proven commercial judgment, leadership presence, and a demonstrated ability to own client relationships and lead transactions from origination through close.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple teams and complex transactions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, setting priorities and maintaining excellence under heavy workloads.
  • Sophisticated critical and creative thinking across the quantitative and qualitative spectrum.
  • Intellectual curiosity, self-motivation, and the ability to operate with significant autonomy.
  • Deep interest and demonstrated expertise in reinsurance, product development, and insurance capital solutions.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including the ability to read varying perspectives and tailor messages to senior internal and external audiences.
  • Meticulous organization with an emphasis on accountability and attention to detail across a portfolio of priorities.
  • Technical and aesthetic mastery of PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Comfort using AI-powered tools to improve productivity and quality of work.
  • Content-driven leadership, with the ability to distill complex and nuanced topics for a wide range of audiences, including boards and senior management.
  • Maturity, presence, sound judgment, and the credibility to form, express, and defend opinions to cross-divisional teams and senior leadership.
  • Strong relationship-development skills, including remotely, with global teams and with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • A leadership orientation: the ability to mentor and elevate junior colleagues while maintaining a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Adaptable and flexible, able to navigate and steer shifting priorities.
