About the Role

SSOE is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Mechanical Engineer for its Automotive & Manufacturing Facilities Group to develop innovative projects in a transformational and growth sector. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of advanced industrial facilities for leading companies, requiring close collaboration with clients, engineering teams, and professionals to ensure projects meet and exceed industry standards. Expertise will be crucial in ensuring the quality, compliance, and innovation of designs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering and 3D Revit support for projects including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • Performs HVAC load calculations, ductwork static pressure calculations, and pump head calculations.
  • Performs detailed engineering work on major projects or total engineering work on smaller projects.
  • Plans and conducts work requiring independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard methods.
  • Devises new approaches and solutions to problems and communicates changes to the team.
  • Supervises and coordinates the work of less experienced engineers and designers.
  • Responsible for checking drawings within the discipline.
  • Participates in client contact and business development activities.
  • Meets with clients to define project scope, present progress, and assure satisfaction.
  • Writes specifications and assists in or prepares cost estimates.
  • Performs design work with REVIT.
  • Develops engineering concepts and presentations.
  • Coordinates work with other disciplines.
  • Stays current on new design methods and ideas.
  • Travel is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college program, qualifying for licensure.
  • PE or PE-tracked preferred.
  • Twelve or more years of related practical experience required.
  • Experience with and ability to size HVAC equipment, duct and ancillary equipment, hydronic, utility piping systems, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience working on Automotive, Manufacturing, and Commercial projects is a plus.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license required (may be waived for international travel).
