About the Role
As the first point of contact for patients in an ambulatory setting, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth patient experience. This role is vital for maintaining high-quality, patient-centered care within the Oral Oncology department.
Responsibilities
- Greet and check in patients, verify demographics, check insurance eligibility, and collect payments.
- Answer and direct phone calls, addressing patient inquiries and redirecting urgent clinical matters.
- Schedule patient appointments, manage the appointment calendar, and handle rescheduling or cancellations.
- Verify patient insurance information and process authorizations.
- Assist with patient registration and data entry.
- Maintain accurate patient records in the EMR system and manage paper files.
- Ensure patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in staff development and meetings.
- Provide excellent customer service with professionalism and strong interpersonal skills.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- 1-2 years’ experience with front desk operations, patient scheduling, phone handling, and customer service is strongly preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and other medical office software
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic healthcare procedures
- Strong customer service skills
