About the Role

Weco is a contract manufacturer of machined components, fabricated sheet metal, and assembled metal products. We serve various industries including OEM Industrial, Healthcare/Medical Device, Aerospace/Defense, Renewable Energy, and Electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters.
  • Interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Plans stock inventory by checking stock and placing orders.
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions and calculating requirements.
  • Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, and attachments.
  • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verifies settings by measuring first-run part and sample workpieces.
  • Maintains specifications by observing operations, taking measurements, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Adjusts and reprograms controls, sharpens and replaces worn tools.
  • Adheres to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance and following manufacturer's instructions.
  • Troubleshoots malfunctions and calls for repairs.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions and needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for new requests and exploring opportunities to add value.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years’ experience setting up and running vertical machining centers.
  • Able to make adjustments to the program for cutter compensation and tool length offsets.
  • Able to read prints.
  • Able to read micrometers.
  • Knowledge of GD&T callouts.
  • Knowledge of machining tools.
  • Must be punctual and ready to work.
  • Experience running Haas and Hardinge machining centers is a plus.
