About the Role

The purpose of this role is to perform Customs business activities. The Customs Specialist is responsible for transactions with U.S. Customs (CBP) concerning the entry and admissibility of merchandise. This includes conducting effective research, communicating with the client and/or CBP, managing Customs entries, monitoring clearance, and recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

  • Review Customs documents for accuracy before filing with CBP.
  • Verify classification and valuation with the importer as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations.
  • Obtain necessary documents to support claims or disclaims.
  • Ensure timely and proper payment of duties, taxes, or other charges assessed by CBP.
  • Maintain documents required under 19 CFR 163.
  • Monitor and track customs clearances, resolving any delays or issues.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, customs brokers, and government agencies to resolve customs-related issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations and procedures.
  • Attend provided trainings.
  • Support the development and implementation of customs compliance procedures and policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Customs brokerage.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, processes, and documentation.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in customs declarations and record-keeping.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with ACE Secure Data Portal
  • Fluent in English (oral and written)
  • Proficient in using customs management software and systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
