About the Role

The Project Accounting Analyst will actively engage in portfolio-based project accounting and analysis of financial performance for assigned projects. This role involves monitoring financial performance, ensuring adherence to company policies, and supporting project managers and accounting staff throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an individual project portfolio including low to medium complexity projects.
  • Partner with Project Manager and project team during the pre-contract/pursuit phase to provide salary rates for proposals and establish project budgets.
  • Review and provide input to the margin analysis drafting and review process.
  • Review contracts, modifications, and task orders, including compensation terms, contract terms, reporting requirements, invoice formats, and billing amounts.
  • Coordinate with Contract Administrator for proper adherence to document control procedures.
  • Provide subcontract agreements and modifications to Contracts Administration team.
  • Manage subconsultant financial requirements, assisting with problem-solving related to POs, invoice corrections, and ensuring prompt payment to SBE/DBE firms.
  • Review and monitor project financial performance regularly, performing detailed analysis on revenue recognition, WIP status, overhead adjustments, variances, burn rate analyses, and estimates to complete.
  • Facilitate appropriate revenue recognition, recommending interim write-offs or markup adjustments, and closeout windfalls or write-offs.
  • Analyze work in process (WIP) prior to billing each month to minimize potential revenue over-recognition.
  • Inform Billing Supervisor or update WIP database comments indicating billing priorities and/or status.
  • Create and maintain off-line spreadsheets or other financial reports as required by contract.
  • Collaborate with PM/APM to compile and present monthly reports on project financial status, including key performance indicators.
  • Participate in client and internal project meetings regarding estimate to complete and other financial status meetings.
  • Provide support in internal and external audits, including Client Audits of Overhead.
  • Coordinate with billing team in creating an OH adjustment invoice as needed.
  • Ensure proper and timely invoicing per contract terms in collaboration with Billing Specialist(s).
  • May be responsible to submit the invoice to the client.
  • Provide clear direction and review of requested items with Project Accounting Support Specialists.
  • Work with multiple project managers and staff on a regular basis.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3+ years of related experience.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Experience in the A/E/C industry preferred.

Salary/Compensations
