About the Role

As a Shift Manager, you will support the General Manager and Co-Manager in overseeing store profitability during designated shifts. You will lead the shift by delivering on RaceTrac’s mission of making lives simpler and more enjoyable through excellent service, food execution, cleanliness, talent development, and driving success.

Responsibilities

• Model a cheerful demeanor and hold the team accountable to the same.
• Provide clear direction to team members while assisting with various tasks including food service, cleaning, cash wrap, and stocking.
• Proactively address and deescalate guest concerns with patience and empathy, communicating significant issues to management.
• Hold yourself and the team accountable for meeting transaction expectations by managing line lengths and providing prompt communication.
• Train associates on food service standards and provide real-time coaching.
• Ensure the team is informed about current and upcoming food promotions and hold them accountable for sharing this information with guests.
• Maintain knowledge of RaceTrac policies and safety regulations, ensuring staff compliance.
• Conduct regular store walkthroughs, provide constructive feedback, and escalate issues as appropriate.
• Train team members on new and updated policies and processes.
• Ensure inventory control processes are executed consistently, including proper handling of write-offs, receiving, and cash wrap controls.
• Collaborate with vendors to ensure accurate order receiving and foster positive working relationships.
• Effectively communicate information and instructions to associates, ensuring critical updates are conveyed.
• Provide real-time constructive feedback to associates and escalate as needed.
• Monitor stock levels and direct associates to make adjustments.
• Model teamwork by arriving on time, assisting during busy periods, and working effectively with diverse individuals.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED in progress or completed.
• 2-3 years’ work experience preferred.
• 1+ years management experience preferred.
• Previous experience in a high-volume, guest-focused, transactional environment preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Takes initiative.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and repeatedly bend, stand, and reach.
• May be required to obtain and maintain a food handler permit.
• May be required to obtain and maintain an alcohol server permit.
