About the Role

This role involves defining the strategic vision, overseeing development, and managing the growth of an organization's autonomous AI systems and platforms, requiring strategic thinking, AI/ML technical expertise, and strong leadership to align the platform with business goals, build teams, and drive innovation.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for the design, development, testing and deployment of agentic workflows across Capital One.
- Develop and execute the strategic vision and roadmap for the agentic AI platform, ensuring it aligns with organizational priorities.
- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of the platform, from development and integration of AI solutions to sunsetting legacy offerings.
- Guide technical teams, set best practices for AI orchestration, MLOps, and application development, and ensure platform scalability and reliability.
- Work with senior leaders, product management, sales, and other engineering teams to align the platform's capabilities with business goals.
- Act as a champion for the platform, articulating its strategic value to senior stakeholders and influencing enterprise decision-making.
- Foster a culture of innovation and drive the adoption of AI-powered tools across the organization.
- Ensure the platform is developed and deployed in compliance with industry regulations and ethical AI best practice.
- Set a strategic roadmap, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the platform's compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
- Partner with a cross-functional team of engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that change how our associates work and how our customers interact with Capital One.
- Advise on the selection of technologies, programming languages, AI/ML models, orchestration engines, and deployment platforms.
- Make high judgment build-vs-buy decisions across a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
- Contribute to the technical vision and the long term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One.

- Foster a culture of learning and staying abreast of the state-of-the-art in AI.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 8 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies.
- At least 3 years of people leadership experience.
- 5 years of experience managing and leading an engineering team.
- 7 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud).
- Experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies (e.g. LLM Inference, Similarity Search and VectorDBs, Guardrails, Memory) using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.
- Passion for staying abreast of the latest AI research and AI systems, and judiciously apply novel techniques in production.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex AI concepts to peers.
