About the Role
This role involves providing superior service to credit union members, assisting them with financial transactions, and expanding member relationships by identifying and meeting their needs through cross-selling products and services. The position requires accurate transaction processing in compliance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Process member transactions including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, and monetary instrument purchases.
- Verify amounts, examine checks for proper endorsement, and follow fraud prevention procedures and funds availability guidelines.
- Perform transactions in accordance with credit union policy, regulatory compliance, and the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Assist with counting cash shipments, end-of-night balancing, and opening/closing procedures.
- Perform first-line maintenance and reconciliation of equipment (ITM, ATM, TCR).
- Perform vault cash buy/sell and assist with daily vault and branch reconciliation.
- Assist members with routine Member Service needs, including Home Banking and Bill Pay support.
- Issue Instant Issue debit cards, manage add cards, reset PIN tries, and perform research using Quick Assist or similar programs.
- Print images of member checks, statements, and starter checks.
- Update member contact information (address, phone, email).
- Open secondary savings accounts for existing members and manage Safe Deposit Box agreements.
- Promote, explain, and cross-sell credit union products and services.
- Maintain daily teller referral tracking and submit to management.
- Meet or exceed established individual teller referral and sales goals.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of credit union products and services.
- Perform member relationship calls as directed by the Branch Manager.
- Assist in the training and development of newly hired teller staff.
- Organize workstation to maximize efficiency.
- Maintain a professional appearance and greet members courteously.
- Provide prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions.
- Ensure member requests and questions are promptly resolved.
- Maintain privacy of member account information.
- Perform daily cash settlement without differences.
- Maintain a balancing record of 90% or better.
- Maintain cash box limits as outlined in Security Standards.
- Secure money in cash drawer and recyclers/dispensers at all times.
Requirements
- One to three years of similar or related experience.
- Ability to bend, sit, and stand for primarily sedentary work with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to climb/descend stairs in an emergency situation.
- Normal range of vision and hearing abilities required.
- Ability to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals, keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.
- Ability to routinely perform work on a computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day when necessary.
- Ability to work extended hours or travel off-site whenever required or requested by management.
- Capability of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
- Ability to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision.
- Ability to work effectively either independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.
- Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations.
