About the Role

Leads, directs, and coordinates the work of subcontractors and/or Turner trade labor for mechanical and electrical systems on a project. Responsible for ensuring safety, schedule delivery, quality of work, and adherence to budget. This role has supervisory responsibility for Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, Interns, and trade labor.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and make decisions regarding scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and trade employee staffing for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Manage work among assigned trades to ensure coordinated project operations and resolve local area problems.
  • Manage the overall site safety program and ensure subcontractor compliance with Turner standards and safety codes.
  • Supervise and develop Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and/or interns.
  • Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements.
  • Create schedules, determine work sequencing, and develop recovery strategies to maintain project schedule and budget.
  • Communicate with owners and architects/engineers regarding field issues and investigate/resolve them.
  • Manage the billing process for work in place and oversee monthly estimates, payrolls, invoices, and subcontractor payment applications.
  • Ensure work is installed in compliance with approved contract documents.
  • Coordinate with the Engineer on mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, and piping layouts using master coordination drawings and 3D models.
  • Lead project inspections, startup, commissioning, turnover, training, and punchlist processes for system acceptance.
  • Coordinate, direct, and monitor subcontractors and suppliers to ensure conformance with plans, specifications, and codes.
  • Review project changes with the Project Engineer.
  • Keep detailed daily records of MEPs trade contractors' work progress.
  • Participate in preconstruction efforts, including constructability and logistics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or at least four years of formal engineering or architectural experience.
  • A minimum of six years of mechanical/electrical/plumbing construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of building construction, means and methods, scheduling, and cost control procedures.
  • Knowledge of general contract, general conditions, subcontract documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Specific knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of building information modeling and its use in coordination.
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to climb stairs, use construction personnel hoists, climb ladders, and negotiate work areas.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to sit, talk, and hear.
  • Ability to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
