About the Role
The Seasonal Guest Relations role is responsible for providing an exceptional customer-focused entry and exit experience for guests, assisting them with any needs before, during, or after their visit, and supporting the implementation of the Strategic Plan.
Responsibilities
- Ensure a warm welcome and smooth ticketing purchase and redemption experience using a POS system, self-serve ticket scanners, and mobile sales devices.
- Provide excellent customer service in person, by phone, and by email.
- Perform queue management, guest ambassador, and exit gate duties.
- Scan tickets for all Members and guests entering the Zoo.
- Process self-guided group bookings for schools and general groups.
- Proactively inform guests and members of visit expectations, promote on-site events, and upsell Zoo activities.
- Ensure an efficient parking experience, including selling or checking parking tickets.
- Handle cash and credit/debit sales, and reconcile cash and coupons.
- Build awareness of the Toronto Zoo’s mission through engaging interactions.
- Obtain guest and member feedback by completing on-site surveys.
- Follow all policies and branch instructions.
- Attend appropriate training as required.
Requirements
- Must have customer service experience.
- Sales and cash handling experience is an asset.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must ensure all applicable licenses and certificates remain valid and in good standing.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, along with strong communications skills.
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and WHMIS legislation is an asset.
- Must be knowledgeable in the use of computerized programs and systems including point of sales systems, database, etc.
- Must be able to work weekends, shifts, and holidays as scheduled.
- Must be able to deal with staff and public in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Capable of meeting the physical requirements of the position.
- Successful candidates may be required to provide a police reference check and/or driver’s abstract.
- Candidates may be required to take a written and/or practical examination.
