About the Role

Summerhill Market is seeking an experienced Produce Manager to lead their Produce Department at the Rosedale location. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in high-volume retail, enjoy team development, and have a passion for exceptional produce, merchandising, and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the Produce Department, ensuring quality, freshness, merchandising, and customer service.
• Recruit, coach, train, mentor, and motivate Produce team members.
• Manage department ordering, inventory control, receiving, stock replenishment, product rotation, and shrink.
• Ensure produce displays are fully stocked, visually appealing, and maintained to standards.
• Inspect fruits and vegetables daily for quality, freshness, and food safety.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by assisting customers and resolving concerns.
• Develop and manage labour schedules, oversee department productivity, and perform opening/closing duties.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, health & safety, and company policies.
• Execute seasonal merchandising plans, promotional displays, and inventory counts.
• Collaborate with Store Leadership and support other Fresh Departments.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

• Previous Produce Department management or leadership experience in grocery or specialty food retail.
• Strong knowledge of fresh produce handling, quality standards, inventory management, merchandising, and shrink control.
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active retail environment with attention to detail.
• Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Passion for fresh food, retail excellence, and creating an exceptional customer experience.
