About the Role
Watercrest Senior Living is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to assist in overseeing community upkeep, ensuring the health, safety, and cleanliness of the environment. This role involves supporting housekeeping and plant operations, problem-solving, and facilitating excellent conditions for residents, families, visitors, and associates.
Responsibilities
- Display Servant Leadership qualities and confident decision making.
- Walk through the interior and exterior of the community to maintain appearance.
- Inspect the front entrance daily to ensure a positive first impression.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment to reduce sickness and increase productivity.
- Operate within the financial parameters of the community budget.
- Assist and learn how to manage Maintenance IQ, covering community equipment, work orders, inspections, and regulatory items.
- Assist with the onboarding process for new hire employees.
- Assist with the management of the community housekeeping department.
- Be aware of all occupied and unoccupied apartments to ensure a proactive and expeditious turn process.
- Follow all state regulations and company policies and assist with surveys and inspections.
- Understand all emergency procedures in the CEMP plan.
- Assist in managing emergency situations including disasters, fire, and other emergencies.
- Know all emergency and safety management material and assist with associate training.
- Know the fire safety program and equipment to assist with emergency situations.
- Respond in a timely manner to requests of residents, families, guests, and associates.
- Inspect and identify equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Plan repair work using building blueprints or equipment manuals.
- Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician, such as drywall repair, painting, and fixture repair.
- Perform routine maintenance on building systems.
- Assist with ordering supplies and materials needed for maintenance repairs and housekeeping.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Be in company uniform and resident ready at all times.
Requirements
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, residents, family members, guests, vendors, referral sources, and outside contacts.
- Able to make independent and educated decisions.
- Must be able to communicate in a warm, friendly, and caring manner.
- Must be familiar with and adhere to guidelines related to the Fair Housing Act (FHA), American with Disabilities Act (ADA), and general building code knowledge.
- Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens.
- Must possess fundamental skills to operate Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
- Proven maintenance experience.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
- Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.
- Strong follow up skills.
- Eye for detail.
- Ability to maintain focus while working individually.
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisor or senior maintenance workers.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Able to drive when needed to get supplies or participate in community activities.
- Able to concentrate with frequent interruptions.
- Able to work under stressful and emergency situations.
- Able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Able to talk and hear effectively to convey instructions and information to residents and team members.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Shall reasonably anticipate skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials.
- Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) is crucial in safeguarding individuals from potential workplace hazards.
