About the Role
As a Kitchen Steward, you will ensure the cleanliness and sanitization of dishes, tableware, glassware, pots, pans, and utensils using both manual and machine dishwashing methods. You will also maintain a clean and safe workspace, manage waste disposal, and clean kitchen equipment and restrooms.
Responsibilities
- Clean dishes, plates, bowls, silverware, pots, glasses, and pans using manual and machine dishwashing.
- Ensure proper chemical dilution and water temperature.
- Remove trash, waste, and debris to designated areas.
- Wipe down and clean walls, floors, work areas, refrigerators, and kitchen equipment.
- Assemble, maintain, and dismantle the dish machine.
- Scrape, rinse, and load dishes and utensils into the dishwasher.
- Wash and sanitize all cookware, utensils, and dishes.
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain the dishwasher, reporting any deficiencies.
- Ensure adequate stock of tools, supplies, equipment, and chemicals.
- Keep the floor around the dishwasher clean and free from excess water and objects.
- Unload and organize dishware, glassware, and utensils in their respective locations.
- Read and interpret BEO/REO for needed supplies.
- Complete all tasks and prepare areas for the next shift, communicating any outstanding work.
- Sweep, mop, and maintain all kitchen/culinary areas regularly.
- Participate in weekly general cleaning duties.
- Perform additional cleaning duties as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Experience in restaurants.
- Food handler certification card preferred.
- Prior experience in a high-volume restaurant/hotel preferred.
- Ability to stand for an 8-hour shift.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Ability to bend, climb, reach, stoop, and move quickly without discomfort.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
