About the Role
We are seeking a leader to build and grow our internal audit, risk management, and governance function. This role is for someone who understands that effective compliance programs empower businesses to operate with greater confidence and less fear. You will inherit a SOX program with existing momentum and an ongoing GRC implementation, with opportunities to introduce modern audit automation. Beyond SOX, you will own the enterprise risk management program, mature risk identification and assessment processes, and play a key role in governance, including disclosure and audit committee reporting. The ideal candidate will be excited by the prospect of evolving these functions alongside a growing business.
Responsibilities
- Build a trusted and credible internal audit presence that partners across Finance, IT, and Operations want to engage with.
- Effectively manage relationships with co-source partners and external auditors.
- Evaluate the risk-based internal audit plan and close control gaps.
- Evolve controls testing into a repeatable, scalable annual cycle with expanded coverage and clean external auditor coordination.
- Act as a thought partner on control design, ensuring controls are risk-adjusted and scalable as the business grows.
- Drive the design and rollout of a GRC program on the ERP system.
- Evaluate and implement AI-driven audit tools to enhance testing efficiency and reduce manual work.
- Run quarterly disclosure committee meetings and prepare audit committee materials.
- Coordinate across Legal, Finance, and leadership for timely, accurate, and board-ready reporting.
- Mature the enterprise risk management process to inform the audit plan and business decisions.
Requirements
- Ability to make people want to prioritize controls at every level.
- Experience designing programs from scratch and sequencing priorities.
- Ability to communicate complex risk clearly to diverse audiences.
- Hands-on experience with complex and evolving tech stacks including SAP S4 Hana, Netsuite, Shopify, Microsoft Entra, GitHub, Data Dog, Google Cloud Platform.
- Excitement about building a modern, AI-forward Internal Audit function.
- Ability to balance accountability with empathy, maintaining strong cross-functional relationships.
- Experience navigating difficult conversations while maintaining relationships.
