About the Role
The Junior Accountant plays an important role in the finance function at Sterling Brokers, providing day-to-day accounting support across subsidiary brands. This role assists with journal entries, reconciliations, and payroll-adjacent tasks within tight month, quarter, and year-end timelines, requiring strong organizational skills and a customer-service mindset in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Responsibilities
- Post HSA invoices to Sterling platform and NetSuite
- Prepare manual invoices and manual adjustments
- Review invoices prior to distribution
- Process PAD (pre-authorized debit) runs, twice monthly
- Manage PAD exceptions
- Complete invoice approvals at the start of each month
- Send client invoice reminders and follow up on outstanding payments
- Respond to client queries and communications
- Conduct rate reviews
- Process bridge coverage requests
- Complete new group uploads
- Process client terminations
- Follow up on failed, expired, or declined payments
- Deposit cheques, scan incoming mail, and maintain filing
- Commission statement download, scan and filing
- Support audit requests and documentation
- Other tasks as required
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience working in a mid-sized Finance environment
- Some experience with payroll is preferred
- 2+ years of experience booking journal entries
- Demonstrated ability to work within tight timelines for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Skills
- NetSuite experience is considered an asset
