About the Role
The Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining the carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and HVAC systems for The Salvation Army Kingsboro Men’s Shelter MICA Program, a 143-bed facility.
Responsibilities
- Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor regarding building maintenance, repair, and special project needs.
- Immediately reports any major building repairs, hazards, defects, and/or supply needs to the Superintendent.
- Completes assigned building repairs and needs, including painting, electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, and landscaping, rotating amongst shelters as needed.
- Promptly completes all assigned work orders.
- Takes responsibility for the proper care and maintenance of tools, supplies, and equipment.
- Assists with ground cleanup and snow removal as assigned.
- Maintains a safe and sanitary workspace and follows all OSHA regulations.
- Drives agency vehicles as needed and accurately tracks mileage.
- Promptly cleans all public areas and workspaces as assigned.
- Cleans and maintains floors, including stripping, waxing, buffing, mopping, and vacuuming, as assigned.
- May work on weekends.
- May be asked to assume their same position at another shelter.
- Other assignments and tasks may be added at the discretion of management.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or possess a GED, trade certificates, or one year of experience in maintenance.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
