About the Role
As an unarmed Security Officer supporting a government transportation location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and provide outstanding customer service to passengers and staff. You will communicate clearly, respond to security-related concerns, and support daily operations with professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to passengers, visitors, and personnel by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at ferry terminal and waterfront locations.
- Respond to incidents, service disruptions, medical emergencies, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and notification procedures.
- Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of terminal areas, passenger waiting areas, boarding locations, waterfront perimeters, and adjacent facilities to help to deter unauthorized activity.
- Monitor access points, observe passenger and vehicle activity, and report unusual conditions, hazards, or policy violations to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain clear and accurate activity logs, incident reports, and shift communications while supporting a professional and welcoming environment.
Requirements
- Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
- Have at least one year of security-related experience.
- Provide proof of a high school diploma or GED.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
