About the Role
The Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in Business Law at the rank of Associate Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027.
Responsibilities
- Sustain and lead innovative and independent research.
- Maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
- Be assigned a teaching and service load.
Requirements
- Hold a JD or equivalent degree.
- Hold a doctoral degree, earned by the time of the appointment or shortly thereafter (preferred).
- Demonstrate a clearly defined record of excellence in research and teaching.
- Possess research and teaching expertise in Business Law, including Corporate Law, Corporate Governance, and Securities Law.
- Conduct interdisciplinary research drawing on economics, finance, accounting, management, political science, philosophy, or data science.
- Produce scholarship not confined primarily to the law of a single jurisdiction.
- Provide evidence of research excellence, demonstrated by sustained high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals.
- Provide evidence of research excellence, demonstrated by submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and other noteworthy activities.
- Provide evidence of research excellence, demonstrated by strong endorsements from referees.
- Provide evidence of excellence in teaching, demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, teaching dossier, and strong letters of reference.
- Submit a cover letter.
- Submit a current curriculum vitae.
- Submit a research statement outlining current and future research interests.
- Submit two recent publications.
- Submit a teaching dossier, including a teaching statement, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations.
- Submit copies of all law and graduate transcripts.
- Submit the name and contact information of three references.
- Release personnel information from prior employers regarding sexual misconduct.
- AI tools may be used in initial screening or assessment, but final decisions are made by the search committee.
