About the Role
This position is responsible for reviewing data accuracy and serving as a technical liaison with clients. Responsibilities include interpreting standards and regulations, conducting technical training, quoting projects, and resolving technical problems with clients.
Responsibilities
- Offer problem resolution for client issues or questions to enhance client satisfaction and relations.
- Understand and interpret standards for appropriate test methods.
- Review contract requirements prior to testing to assure adherence to client requirements and coordinate testing between labs.
- Evaluate products submitted for testing for quality/safety issues, providing direction to technicians.
- Prepare a variety of samples for testing using prescribed methods and standards.
- Conduct testing on consumer product samples using prescribed methods and standards.
- Follow guidelines set forth in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality Manual and Safety/Chemical Hygiene Plan.
- Accurately record test data.
- Evaluate test results data, providing direction to technicians and clients.
- Perform final review and interpret data/reports, including critical error review.
- Train employees on sample preparation and test methods.
- Assist with department testing in other areas, providing direction as required.
- Prepare and review written technical reports and invoices.
- Organize and monitor workload to meet or exceed laboratory turn-around time and client expectations.
- Assist in the coordination of technical and administrative aspects of departmental projects, providing direction to technicians.
- Prepare verbal and written communication to internal and external clients regarding administrative and technical issues.
- Provide technical consultation to internal and external clients within a limited scope.
- Interface with staff internally and at other locations on interpretations to ensure global consistency.
- Research and develop new testing services, methods, procedures, and set-ups in a limited capacity.
- Write, train, implement, and update lab procedures, test protocols, and technical procedures.
- Operate and maintain testing equipment, supplies, lab cleanliness, and analytical instrumentation.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current regulations, industry standards, and products to be tested.
- Provide interpretations pertaining to compliance, requests, and testing issues to clients or client services.
- Participate with industry to review and interpret standards in a limited capacity.
- Assist in developing materials for and conducting client visits and educational tours.
- Prepare quotes with client services, assisting with identifying appropriate standards/protocols for testing.
- Adhere to the requirements of the BV-CPS Quality System.
- Provide feedback to department Manager regarding departmental systems, processes, and recommendations for improvements.
- Provide technical support to Technicians/External Clients.
- Provide technical training to internal staff.
- Follow guidelines set forth in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Comply with Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc management systems in accordance with ISO 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
- Serve as the main technical contact for external and internal clients.
- Provide recommendations/interpretations pertaining to compliance, test requests, and testing issues.
- Prepare and deliver quotes, proposals, presentations, and calls to prospects and clients.
- Develop materials and conduct client visits and educational tours.
- Provide direction and serve as mentor for junior Engineers and Technicians.
- Provide support for technical and administrative aspects of various departmental projects, providing direction to other staff members as needed.
Requirements
- 4 year degree in a technical/engineering discipline; or 2 year degree in a technical/engineering discipline and 2-3 years related experience
- 4 year degree in a technical/engineering discipline and up to 2 years related experience; or 2 year degree in a technical/engineering discipline and 3-4 years related experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
