About the Role

This role is responsible for investigating moderate to complex represented claims, including those arising from single or multi-car accidents, and specialized claims such as business interruption or loss of income. The individual will oversee liability and bodily injury investigations, take recorded statements, resolve loss of use claims, process payments, and negotiate settlements.

Responsibilities

  • Summarizes documents and enters into claim system notes.
  • Manages, researches, and resolves complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts, or issues.
  • Reviews medical reports in preparation for claims settlement evaluation.
  • Researches, responds to, or participates in Department of Insurance complaints or investigations.
  • Negotiates and settles claims in accordance with business unit best practices.
  • Sets initial reserve, updates reserve, documents rationale, and claim summary notes.
  • Determines and explains minimum coverage limits in complex claims involving single or multiple claimants, and determines claim value.
  • Documents a claim file with notes, evaluations, and decision-making process.

Requirements

  • Prior represented casualty claim handling experience is required.
  • Claims experience preferred in at least one of the following states: NY, NJ, PA, FL, VA, NC.
  • 2-5 years of moderate/complex Bodily Injury claim handling experience is required.
  • Proficient communication skills, especially over the phone, to establish rapport and assess claims accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, while managing time efficiently.
  • Familiarity with insurance policies, coverage, and liability determination.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to evaluate and negotiate injury claims successfully.
  • Knowledge of innovative tools and platforms for effective claims evaluation.
  • A home office – a dedicated workspace in your residence that is private and free from distractions.
  • A minimum internet bandwidth of 50 MB down/5 MB up.
  • Appropriate work surface and seating.
  • Must obtain adjuster and/or appraiser license within 60 days of hire if required.
  • Must be located in the United States.
  • Not available for California, Alaska, Hawaii, or Washington residents.
