About the Role

Performs nursing care activities for individuals in the Medical/Surgical Unit, contributing to patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. Supports the hospital's mission, vision, and values while adhering to established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs nursing care activities for individuals in the Medical/Surgical Unit.
  • Actively accepts, understands, and practices appropriate standards of Medical/Surgical nursing.
  • Contributes to the nursing assessment of the Medical/Surgical patient.
  • Participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
  • Actively supports the mission, vision, and values of the hospital and department.
  • Performs various activities related to the needs of adult and geriatric Medical/Surgical patients in accordance with the hospital’s established policies and procedures and the Alabama Board of Nursing.

Requirements

  • Current LPN license in the state.
  • Required two years of hospital LPN experience (for float pool LPNs only).
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must show initiative and ability to function independently.

Skills

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Institutional basic EKG course completion (interpretation of life-threatening dysrhythmias).
  • Annual completion of “Unit Specific” Competency requirements.
  • Experience in operating personal computers, including operation of computer software in a Windows environment (preferred).
