About the Role
As an Associate in AI Controls Enablement within Controls Strategy & Innovation (CSI), you will report to the AI Controls Enablement program lead, as part of a team of Controls professionals with deep technical AI expertise who sit at the intersection of the Business and Technology. This role carries strong visibility to senior Controls leadership and to senior AWM and firmwide business stakeholders, positioning you to influence how the AWM Controls builds and deploys AI for the Business. It is a stimulating environment where a wide range of activities require engagement with cross-disciplinary teams to build creative, sustainable solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop AI tools alongside Citizen Developers and Technology, optimizing control frameworks, identifying risks sooner and working with business to solve problems, co-signing every tool submission before it is approved for deployment to colleagues.
- Determine the right tool to solve the problem from a cost effective mindset across AI and general automation tools (e.g., UiPath, Python, and other JPMorgan-authorized workflow, process, and decision automation tools) to prototype and scale automated controls.
- Run scenario simulations and red-team exercises; establish best practices and standards for the review and deployment of AI tools across the AI Controls Enablement team.
- Assist with coordination of the AI Controls Council, producing quarterly AI Controls Intelligence Report for senior leadership, including status of in-flight items, prioritization of new work, and solutions launched with impact — providing the role strong visibility across both Controls and business leadership.
Requirements
- Experience in risk or control management within financial services, with a focus on compliance and operational risk mitigation, equivalent to seven or more years of experience.
- Technical AI fluency — a genuine understanding of how AI models work, including their assumptions, limitations, and failure modes.
- Ability to translate complex, technical AI behavior into documented, escalatable, and actionable risk findings within a controls framework.
- Capability to implement robust controls to safeguard business operations and meet critical regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in process and data analysis to enhance control environments and interpret business needs and trends.
- Good Internal stakeholder management skills, including the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with senior Controls leadership and senior business stakeholders.
- Good project management skills and a commitment to operational excellence.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), with the ability to develop compelling and meaningful executive presentations.
