About the Role
AECOM is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Process Engineer to design large, complex water and wastewater treatment and pumping facilities. This role focuses on detailed technical design for pump stations, including pipe sizing, pump selection, process systems, rotating equipment, piping, and hydraulic studies.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior technical resource, potentially as a technical lead or advisor.
- Supervise and support the work of others, mentoring junior engineers and design staff.
- Provide specialized technical input for specific areas of expertise.
- Develop study and design procedures to ensure high-quality, cost-effective work.
- Participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
- Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts.
- Utilize expertise in all steps of completing discipline components of PS&E packages.
- Perform quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings.
- Prepare technical specification sections.
- Provide input for engineering budget and schedule development.
- Serve as design manager, leading project tasks in collaboration with project managers and clients for wastewater and reclaimed water facilities.
- Oversee the preparation of construction documents, permit applications, and handle construction aspects.
Requirements
- BA/BS plus eight years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency.
- Experience in the water/wastewater industry.
- Professional Engineering License (PE), New Jersey or New York preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Experience managing a team and developing junior staff.
- Highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to meet quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
- Ability to apply passion and enthusiasm for design in a collaborative environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).
