About the Role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Construction Manager in our New York office to manage current and future Construction Management Projects, employing the latest technologies to deliver critical water supply, treatment, and infrastructure projects. This role offers an opportunity to work on pressing water infrastructure problems and contribute to AECOM's industry leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple contracts, construction, and projects, including staffing, budget, deliverables, and status reports.
  • Utilize fiscal experience with proven project management skills to deliver projects within budget and on schedule, including job accounting and reporting methods like earned value and estimates to complete.
  • Provide technical input into Construction Management requests for proposals (RFPs) on occasion.
  • Manage multiple, complex, interconnected construction schedules in active water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Approve correspondence related to construction and identify key issues regarding disputed work, delays, additional/supplemental work, and non-conforming work.
  • Ensure safety monitoring activities are accomplished per AECOM's scope of work.
  • Review project progress and schedule, requiring strong construction coordination skills.
  • Ensure QA/QC program compliance.
  • Perform final review and authorization of contractor payments, including confirmation of Prevailing Wage interviews.
  • Utilize disputes avoidance skills and ability to align interests and keep parties working together.
  • Participate in the negotiation of all Change Orders.
  • Review contractor's CPM schedule with assistance from the Scheduler to ensure conformity with contract requirements.
  • Notify contractors of non-conforming work by issuing a formal Notice of Non-Conformance.
  • Confirm timely submission of contractor submittals to avoid inhibiting work progress.
  • Establish and maintain project files.
  • Review client draft letters and reports.
  • Assist Resident Engineering and inspection staff in expediting technical solutions to field problems.
  • Establish, update, and write project procedures and Project Work Plans.
  • Verify that all field testing, start-up, and operation and maintenance training activities are conducted in accordance with contract documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • 10 years of construction experience in the Wastewater industry.
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Construction Management experience on at least one large, long-term wastewater, high-value wastewater treatment capital improvement program (or aggregate of $350M+ in value).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Heavy Civil Engineering and/or Tunneling.
  • Knowledge of applicable NYC and National codes and regulations.
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Experience in deep excavation techniques and shoring.
  • Experience in ground stabilization and remediation.
  • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
