About the Role

Catholic Charities of Long Island is seeking an Assistant Residential Manager to help developmentally disabled adults achieve their goals and experience pride in their accomplishments. This role involves assisting the Residence Manager in providing person-centered care by encouraging teamwork, supervising staff, observing regulatory requirements, and ensuring effective house operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising Residence Counselors and assisting in scheduling staff to ensure full staffing 24/7
  • Ensuring that Individual Service Plans and goals are developed with residents, implemented and documented appropriately by staff
  • In absence of Manager, communicating with residents’ family members to provide information, status reports
  • Performing hands-on Residence Counselor duties as needed, including transporting and accompanying residents into the community, providing direct care, performing household maintenance duties

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 yrs. experience in a hands-on caregiving role within the Developmental Disabilities field (OPWDD) is required
  • Experience caring for developmentally disabled adults in a residential setting
  • Strong communication skills -- written, verbal and interpersonal
  • Well-developed administrative & organizational skills
  • Clean, valid NYS Driver’s License
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule according to resident care needs
  • Ability to perform tasks that may require stooping, crouching, and 2-person lifting up to 250 pounds
  • Ability to maintain personal safety and respond appropriately in a calm, non-confrontational manner during an individual's physical or emotional outburst

Experience Level

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a hands-on caregiving role within the Developmental Disabilities field (OPWDD)
  • Seasoned OPWDD professional

Education Level

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Associate’s Degree preferred

Salary/Compensations

  • $25.00/hr.
