About the Role
The Residential Aide Shift Supervisor (RAS) is responsible for assuring the general welfare, security, and safety of residents, staff, and the facility at Baxter Safe Haven, a transitional housing program for adults experiencing homelessness. This role involves supervising the Residential Aides team to ensure quality service delivery and a safe environment for residents.
Responsibilities
- Train and support Residential Aide (RA) staff on client care, agency policies, and best practices.
- Provide daily supervision to RA staff to ensure consistent service quality.
- Lead staff meetings to discuss resident issues, operations, policies, and program outcomes.
- Coordinate RA schedules and plan coverage.
- Review and submit payroll for Residential Aides.
- Oversee and conduct intakes, notifying the Program Director of any changes or concerns.
- Oversee the CARES intake system to ensure timely client admissions.
- De-escalate client conflicts and incidents using client-centered care and appropriate responses.
- Supervise daily food service and act as a liaison with the meal provider.
- Work with directors to define, document, and update building rules for residents and ensure compliance.
- Ensure timely and appropriate response to building emergencies and follow incident reporting guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with health, fire, and safety codes, and handle violations.
- Perform daily facility and resident room inspections to identify risks and hazards.
- Oversee contracted security services to ensure adherence to policies.
- Enter and monitor maintenance requests in the contractor database and follow up on completion.
- Work with the Program Director on staff development and training needs.
- Stay informed on contract requirements and ensure compliance.
- Communicate goals, monitor performance outcomes, and implement improvement plans.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisor experience required.
- Experience in a safe haven, shelter, or supportive housing environment preferred.
- Food handler's license required within the first month of hire.
- F-80 Certification required within the first 90 days of hire.
- Ability to work in the Microsoft Office Suite, proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with CARES system is a plus.
- Familiarity or ability to learn cloud-based payroll platforms like Paycom.
