About the Role

The Shoel Umeishiv acts as a mentor and academic resource for students, aiding in the understanding and analysis of complex texts while promoting critical thinking and engagement. Occasionally, the Shoel Umeishiv may substitute for the teacher and lead class sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with understanding and deciphering the texts
  • Develop relationships with the students and make them feel comfortable discussing both academic and non-academic matters
  • On occasion, substitute for the teacher and teach the class

Requirements

  • Rabbinic ordination
  • 2+ years teaching Talmudic and other Jewish texts
  • Experience leading small groups of students

Skills

  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to give a lecture on occasion
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to read and write Hebrew

Salary/Compensations

  • $31.25 - $31.25 per hour
