About the Role

The Environmental Analyst is responsible for maintaining environmental compliance and meeting permit requirements, acting as the local technical expert regarding engineering and environmental concepts for assigned locations. This role applies engineering principles to prepare technical reports, conduct tests, audits, or inspections, collect and analyze samples, investigate incidents, and recommend corrective actions.

Responsibilities

Participates in frequent field site visits, collects data, analyzes findings, and interprets them by producing technical reports, tabulating data, and preparing charts, graphs, and sketches.
Collaborates with facility management to maintain local, state, and federal permits by identifying needs, anticipating renewals, preparing and submitting applications, and managing document filing.
Interacts professionally with regulators, customers, and the public regarding facility permits and environmental compliance.
Coordinates and manages third-party contractors and consultants for low and medium-complexity projects.
Participates as a team member on higher-complexity, long-duration development projects.
Identifies and corrects compliance issues by working with facility managers to coordinate process improvements and follow up on self-inspections.
Evaluates the significance of hazards and determines proper disposal and management methods for facility operations.
Manages the internal environmental management tracking system (ETMS) database and works on geographic information system (GIS) projects.
Collaborates with facility and regional management to obtain and report collected data supporting company and facility goals.
Oversees ongoing compliance of environmental programs by coordinating training and performing self-inspections.
Assists with the development and implementation of new or revised environmental resource programs, policies, procedures, and methods of operation.
Provides recommendations for enhancements to ensure effective systems and services.
Participates in training and learning opportunities to expand knowledge.
Performs other duties as needed to help drive the company's vision, mission, and core values.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or other related degree.
1-4 years of work experience in solid waste or related environmental industry.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
A valid driver’s license.
Ability to travel among the company's regional offices throughout the Northeast.
Strong commitment to workplace safety, sustainability, and environmental compliance.
Strong understanding of environmental laws and regulations.
High attention to detail, organizational, listening, communication and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction for any employer.
