About the Role

Arlo is rebuilding health insurance for small businesses by leveraging AI to reduce costs and improve care access. This role focuses on building and owning the machine learning infrastructure that powers Arlo's underwriting, enabling real-time quotes and accelerating data science iteration.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the infrastructure layer for underwriting models trained on extensive patient and claims data.
• Ensure training infrastructure is reliable, reproducible, and scalable.
• Build and own the API layer for real-time, low-latency model inference for quoting.
• Own the latency, reliability, and scalability of the quoting product's serving path.
• Make it easy for data scientists and actuaries to test new features and ideas.
• Build backtesting and validation infrastructure for rapid and trustworthy model performance measurement.
• Simplify the process from idea generation to a validated, production-ready model.

Requirements

• Strong track record of building production ML or data infrastructure at scale.
• Deep proficiency in Python.
• Comfort processing large datasets (Spark, Databricks, or equivalent).
• Experience with model training pipelines and/or low-latency model serving in production.
• Experience building developer/researcher-facing infrastructure (e.g., feature testing, experiment tracking, backtesting).
• Ability to own systems end-to-end, set standards, and operate reliable production infrastructure.
• Genuine interest in modeling and data science, not just infrastructure.
