About the Role

Join our extraordinary team as a Backend Co-op and contribute to innovative, highly-concurrent, Java-based server applications that directly impact ecobee’s success. You will gain hands-on experience with production features, learn about performance testing and debugging, and be mentored by senior software developers in a unique hardware field.

Responsibilities

  • Get hands-on with development of production features along with the rest of your team.
  • Participate in planning, scoping, and creating specifications for production features.
  • Learn about performance testing, unit testing, and debugging of critical high-volume systems.
  • Work with best-of-breed backend technologies and techniques.
  • Be mentored by senior software developers.

Requirements

  • A current Computer Science, Software, Computer or Electrical Engineering student.
  • Proficient at writing software in at least one of: Java, Kotlin, Go; and eager to learn more.
  • Good at getting your code to run on Linux-based systems.
  • Eager to improve your software craft.
  • Curious, thoughtful, and practical!
  • Would like to make a difference in an intellectual and planet-positive environment.
  • The hired candidate will be required to complete a background check.
