About the Role

Join Transport for London (TfL) Engineers in one of our Transport Infrastructure Engineering teams. You will deliver new systems and solutions, connect communities, and create opportunities for the 21st century and beyond. As a Principal Engineer within the Fire Safety Engineering team, you will provide technical and strategic direction on fire safety within TfL, drive the strategic development of people and standards, and manage senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Delivering designs, drawings, information, calculations and enhancements that keep vital, innovative and big-budget projects moving.
Ensuring assets are safe, working and compliant.
Developing your own solutions.
Acting as a trusted source of engineering advice.
Providing technical and strategic direction on fire safety within TfL.
Stakeholder consultation.
Accountability for fire safety.
Driving the strategic development of our people and standards.
Completing assessments of fire systems of varying complexity within a transport environment.
Translating technical knowledge in support of an operational business.

Requirements

Member of an appropriate professional institution (e.g. IFE, CIBSE etc.).
Chartered Engineer (or recognised international equivalent).
Expert knowledge of fire safety engineering.
Broad knowledge of other building services disciplines.
Knowledge of H&S considerations within the transport industry.
Expert understanding of relevant fire safety legislation, national and international standards.
Ability to make safety or high-risk network wide responsible engineering decisions for fire assets.
Ability to manage senior stakeholders in this area.
Extensive knowledge of fire safety engineering application in several stages of the asset life cycle.
Passion for the TfL Vision and Strategy.
Ability to demonstrate right to work in the UK.
