About the Role

As a Principal Software Engineer at ZEOS, you will be a key architect of the common platform and ecosystem that powers both partner-facing and internal products. You will shape the technical landscape that allows diverse B2B solutions to interact, scale, and thrive. You will design foundational REST services and microservices that serve as the interface between complex internal operations and the external market, shaping the future of the Zalando logistics ecosystem. You will be the architectural guide for a platform that turns business complexity into scalable, cost-efficient, and secure software, bridging the gap between business requirements and robust Java-based engineering.

Responsibilities

Design and drive the technical vision for high-traffic customer portals and internal tools using React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
Guide the transition and optimization of Micro Frontend (MFE) and SPA architectures, ensuring seamless integration across the ZEOS partner landscape.
Translate complex business opportunities into Solution Designs that are scalable, cost-efficient, and compliant with industry standards.
Guide deployment strategies within AWS and Kubernetes environments, ensuring robust Web Security through Okta/OpenID and proxy/gateway configurations.
Act as a core member of the Principal Community, driving cross-area architectural consistency and elevating development processes through CI/CD, high test coverage, and Design System (DS) maturity.
Support multi-disciplinary teams (Engineers, Designers, PMs) and manage high-level stakeholders to ensure project alignment and technical integrity.

Requirements

3+ years of experience as a Principal Engineer or Solutions Architect.
Proven track record of leading complex, multi-team projects in cloud environments.
Expert-level knowledge of the modern web stack (React, TS, Webpack).
Deep experience managing the complexities of Micro Frontends at scale.
Comfortable navigating AWS and Kubernetes.
Strong grasp of networking fundamentals, including reverse-proxies and API gateways.
Practical experience implementing modern authentication flows (OpenID/Okta).
Experience protecting applications against sophisticated web vulnerabilities.
Thrive in an Agile environment, owning the full development lifecycle from discovery to CI/CD deployment and automated testing.
Excel at translating technical concepts for stakeholders.
Possess leadership clarity needed to mentor senior engineers through difficult architectural decisions.
Master of delegation and high-level system thinking.
Willingness to get hands-on when a critical technical challenge requires direct expertise.
