About the Role
As a Phlebotomy Technician at Cleveland Clinic Medina Hospital, you will be an integral member of the Medical Laboratory Team. You will help put patients at ease while obtaining required specimens, enhancing their care experience. Responsibilities
- Perform blood collection procedures and follow venipuncture procedures.
- Maintain appropriate log sheets.
- Verify order requests and identifying information prior to drawing blood or collecting specimens.
- Label all specimens collected and deliver them to the appropriate processing area.
- Perform specimen processing and send out tasks, including accessioning, centrifugation, and packaging.
- Pick up and deliver blood, other sample types, and lab supplies.
- Float to multiple locations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Technical proficiency with standard procedures, techniques, and common practices.
- Requires frequent and long durations of standing and walking.
- Requires visual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors.
- Requires manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood drawing equipment and make measurements.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Must comply with the influenza prevention program, including annual vaccination or approved exemption.
- All offers of employment are followed by testing for controlled substances.
