About the Role
The Child Center of NY strengthens children and families by providing skills, opportunities, and emotional support for healthy, successful lives. This role involves teaching GED curriculum and coordinating GED-related services for youth aged 16-21 in an Adolescent Skills Program.
Responsibilities
- Assess each student's individual educational needs.
- Administer TABE test and other assessments as needed.
- Teach GED prep classes and document student progress monthly.
- Create weekly lesson plans.
- Coordinate transition plans.
- Review IEPs.
- Maintain student attendance records.
- Schedule students to take the GED exam at official Test Centers.
- Collaborate with local high schools and the NYS Department of Education.
- Assist students with uploading documents for test accommodations on GED.com portal.
- Refer applicants to alternative GED programs if necessary.
- Instruct class in person and virtually.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 1 year experience teaching and/or 2 years tutoring experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
