About the Role

Develop design for Public, Government, and Department of Defense projects, bringing self-motivation and strong design skills through all stages of programming, concept, design, and documentation. Drive great design and support the firm culture of design excellence within teams and firmwide interior design efforts and client presentations.

Responsibilities

• Originate innovative high-level design solutions to complex problems and coordinate with project teams through the development and presentation of these ideas.
• Work on multiple projects simultaneously, including large, complex government facilities.
• Support internal business development efforts.
• Assist in producing contract and proposal documents by demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of construction documentation principles.
• Prepare and develop space plans, furniture plans, elevations, sections, interiors details, FF&E cost estimates, FF&E schedules, SID binders, FF&E binders, technical specifications, best value determination (BVD) documentation, 3D conceptual views, and finished design presentation documentation.
• Oversee the development and distribution of meeting minutes for project team and department staff meetings.
• Meet client requirements, expectations, and budget with a service-focused mindset.
• Ensure construction documents are consistent with design intent and meet firm BIM standards.
• Advance the firm’s stance in the use of ethical and highly sustainable materials.
• Assist in managing project finances, balancing scope, tasks, and fee.
• Mentor junior interior design staff.
• Seek self-growth in firm practice areas and stay abreast of trends in specific project types.
• Participate in firmwide initiatives, external professional organizations, and industry social functions.

Requirements

• Six (6) years of experience in the design and documentation of interiors projects.
• Experience in interior design, documentation, and detailing on every phase of a project.
• Experience with public sector projects including state & local government facilities and Department of Defense work preferred.
• Knowledge of highly sustainable practices and industry standards.
• Excellent graphic, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of FF&E, color, and materials.
• Knowledge of furniture systems and specifications.
• Knowledge of a design-build process a plus.
• Proficiency in relevant computer software including Building Information Modeling (Revit, R360), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of Enscape and AutoCAD a plus.
