About the Role
This position is responsible for the operation of all fabrication equipment associated with the manufacture and assembly of metallic products supplied to the construction industry. More specifically, this position will be responsible for operating machines such as machine center helper, saw, ironworker, bender, drill press, punch, shot blaster, vulcanizing equipment, and a variety of portable hand tools. Attention to safety and quality is essential to this position, as well as the skills necessary to assemble simple expansion joints.
Responsibilities
- Operate all fabrication equipment associated with the manufacture and assembly of metallic products.
- Operate machines including machine center helper, saw, ironworker, bender, drill press, punch, shot blaster, vulcanizing equipment, and portable hand tools.
- Assemble simple expansion joints.
- Maintain productivity.
- Accurately check quality.
- Follow pre-established procedures and guidelines from start to finish.
- Comply with all safety regulations, including Safe Work Permits, training requirements, and use of safety equipment.
Requirements
- Ability to read and understand shop drawings and other written instructions.
- Ability to use hand tools and all equipment in assigned area to form, machine, and blast in the process to join components together into sub-assemblies and assemble into finished engineer-to-order products.
- Must be able to lift and manage material of up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, or kneel if required.
- Must wear all required PPE.
