About the Role

Family Life Academy Charter School (FLACS) is seeking dynamic administrators who value collaboration, believe in education as activism, and want to work in an environment where academic excellence is the norm. The Assistant Principal supports the Principal in promoting the success and safety of all staff and students, articulating the FLACS mission, and ensuring the successful implementation of rigorous curricula.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the principal in leading staff, students, and parents in shaping a clear and strategic vision for academic success.
  • Facilitates the planning, development, organization, coordination, and supervision of the instructional program.
  • Coaches, mentors, models, develops, and evaluates teachers.
  • Coaches teachers and teacher leaders on data analysis and use.
  • Contributes to a shared culture focused on excellence.
  • Ensures the school is safe and orderly.
  • Ensures teachers have high expectations for students and that students are provided with the overall skills, knowledge, and experience to succeed academically and socially.
  • Builds strong family and community ties.
  • Supervises the delivery of a rigorous student curriculum.
  • Establishes and maintains trusting relationships.
  • Oversees programming, testing schedule, test administration, and training.
  • Identifies, creates, and designs school programs aligned with State guidance.
  • Participates in teacher/staff recruitment efforts and liaisons with the network office of human resources.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Education required.
  • New York State Certification as a School Building Leader and/or School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS) certificate and/or School District Leader (SDL) certificate and/or School District Administrator (SDA) certificate.
  • Experience as an effective assistant principal or other leadership position, preferred.
  • At least five years of successful teaching.
  • Clearance for fingerprint and criminal background check.
