About the Role

The Royal Ballet and Opera (RBO) is seeking freelance Area Coordinators to support the expansion of its flagship Chance to Dance (CTD) programme. This role involves acting as the main liaison between the Programme Manager, schools, and artists, ensuring the successful delivery of the programme in regional areas. The CTD programme aims to introduce children to ballet, foster a love of dance, and provide professional development opportunities for associate dance artists.

Responsibilities

  • Support the CTD Programme Manager in the delivery of the programme in each area.
  • Act as the main conduit between the programme manager, Primary Schools, Associate Dance schools and all artists per cohort.
  • Deliver a depth programme of activity across a 4-year residency.
  • Provide a creative programme of workshops and performance opportunities for Primary school children.
  • Support artist development and talent identification.
  • Contribute to talent development and affecting systemic change.

Requirements

  • Experience in delivering programmes within schools and/or community settings.
  • Experience of working with children and young people.
  • Experience of partnership working with external organisations.
  • Experience of managing projects and budgets.
  • Experience of working within the dance sector.
  • An understanding of the challenges and opportunities of working in a regional context.
  • An understanding of the RBO’s mission and values.
  • An understanding of safeguarding principles.
  • An ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • An ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • An ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • An ability to travel to regional areas as required.
  • A commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion.
