About the Role
The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct research in the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, investigating the physical mechanisms of extreme precipitation and severe weather using theoretical analysis, numerical modeling, and observations. Research topics may include mesoscale atmospheric dynamics, gravity waves, convective systems, tropical and subtropical meteorology, and precipitation processes. The candidate will collaborate on interdisciplinary projects, publish research findings, assist in proposal development, and present research at scientific conferences.
Responsibilities
- Conduct independent and collaborative research on the physical processes governing extreme precipitation and severe weather using theoretical analysis, numerical modeling, and atmospheric observations.
- Analyze meteorological datasets and numerical model simulations to investigate mesoscale atmospheric dynamics, convective systems, gravity waves, and precipitation processes.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication and present research findings at scientific conferences.
- Contribute to proposal development.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams.
- Assist in the development of computational tools and scientific workflows supporting the laboratory's research objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in hand by August 2026.
