About the Role

The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the dishwashing area and throughout the kitchen, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for staff and guests.

Responsibilities

• Effectively loads and operates dishwashing machines.
• Hand washes pots, pans, and other items according to sanitation and cleanliness standards.
• Thoroughly cleans dish machines by emptying and filling tanks, and setting up curtains.
• Empties grease traps and barrels.
• Checks and fills rinse agent and detergent as necessary.
• Notifies Supervisor of any machine irregularities.
• Thoroughly cleans and empties disposal drains regularly.
• Keeps dish cleaning area and floor clean and free from debris.
• Empties all trash in the kitchen area and employee cafeteria.
• Correctly separates recyclable items into proper containers.
• Maintains bus stations in assigned areas, ensuring availability of soiled silverware containers, bus buckets, and empty garbage cans.
• Correctly places soiled dishes on racks in the dish cleaning machine.
• Separates silverware for cleaning and washes it twice.
• Stacks clean dishes in the proper storage area.
• Ensures the pot sink area is clean and free from debris.
• Ensures pots are kept inverted and stored properly.
• Complies with all applicable health standards.
• Uses chemicals in proper areas and correct concentrations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Possess reading ability for schedules, MSDS, and forms.
• Must be safety oriented.
• Ability to operate a dishwashing machine and floor machines.
• Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
• Ability to speak and understand English to interact with guests and co-workers.
• Possess written communication skills for standard forms.
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures (0 to 110 degrees).
• Ability to work under extreme noise.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
