About the Role
The position provides permanent planning and placement services to abused or neglected children by recruiting, training, and licensing foster and adoptive homes. The role supports families and children through separation and attachment issues, manages placement recommendations, and conducts investigations related to foster and adoptive families.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, identify, and match children with prospective adoptive families
- Provide services to children in adoptive placement
- Recruit, train, study, license, and develop foster and adoptive families
- Maintain accurate case documentation, including forms and narratives
- Build and maintain professional relationships within the program, region, and community
- Conduct assessments of child and family life situations to determine abuse or neglect
- Provide services after hours and on weekends to maintain 24-hour coverage
- Promote and demonstrate respect for cultural diversity
- Attend work regularly in accordance with agency policy
Requirements
- Reliable personal motor vehicle
- Acceptable driving record for the past five years
- Current, valid Texas driver's license
- Ability to pass a drug screening
- Completion of an FBI fingerprint check
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time, including overnight
- Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree with two years of relevant experience, or 60 college credit hours with two years of experience, or 90 college credit hours with one year of experience
Skills
- Knowledge of child placement practices
- Skills in preparing children for adoptive placements
- Ability to support families with separation and attachment issues
- Ability to assess child needs and progress
- Ability to maintain timely documentation and manage caseloads
- Clear and concise communication skills
- Ability to assess life situations for child abuse or neglect
