About the Role
This position serves as the Community Schools Coordinator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County, supporting the grant-funded program The Fort Drum Regional Full-Service Community Schools Consortia. The role involves family engagement, youth career/college readiness programming using 4-H curricula, and coordinating before, afterschool, and summer programs for grades 6-12.
Responsibilities
- Implement family engagement events, activities, and tasks to meet program objectives.
- Implement established 4-H Youth Development programming and activities.
- Utilize established program resources and materials for youth and families.
- Provide family engagement educational information via school media.
- Ensure program delivery is within the scope of the statewide and Association Plan of Work.
- Serve as a subject matter resource in 4-H Youth Development and family engagement.
- Cooperate with the Fort Drum Regional Full-Service Community Schools Consortia and Youth and Family Program area.
- Provide ongoing family engagement activities regarding best practices for working with adults and youth.
- Facilitate community workshops and activities that foster connections and parental involvement.
- Utilize a variety of delivery methods to support parents/caregivers in developing skills to support student learning.
- Assist in creating a welcoming environment for families that promotes active involvement.
- Provide support for existing parent organizations.
- Maintain a presence in the school to reach out to families and facilitate communication.
- Serve as a representative on appropriate teams, such as the Fort Drum Regional Full-Service Community Schools Consortia Advisory Committee.
- Assist program staff with administrative tasks in planning educational programs in 4-H Youth Development.
- Provide input to the Consortia in planning the structure of delivering educational family engagement programs.
- Provide input to program leaders in planning the delivery of established educational program goals.
- Assist in proposing program budget based on established financial guidelines.
- Assist in identifying opportunities for fund development.
- Ensure CCE's mission is acknowledged and exemplified in all work.
- Provide administrative management of established educational program goals.
- Provide administrative tasks in guiding the implementation of program area budgets.
- Provide administrative tasks in guiding the implementation of communication strategies.
- Solve problems and resolve conflicts utilizing appropriate policies and procedures.
- Give guidance to volunteers and staff utilizing established practices and procedures.
- Assist in identifying and recommending program needs.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with school personnel, community agencies, and businesses.
- Coordinate, compile, and organize existing program resources and materials.
- Coordinate and provide out-of-school time programming (4-H before, after, and summer) primarily for 6th – 12th grades.
- Implement established program schedule.
- Assist with program evaluation, including collecting data from participants.
- Coordinate program implementation efforts, planning, and activities.
- Organize and coordinate activities related to Community Schools Programming.
- Assist in the allocation of program budget amounts.
- Prepare and submit expense reports.
- Coordinate administrative aspects of the Community Schools Program, including ordering and inventory of supplies, marketing, and brochure development.
- Provide administrative support for fund development activities.
- Assist in utilizing effective marketing strategies for programming efforts.
- Contribute and communicate 4-H news.
- Provide basic information to community media representatives regarding individual programs.
- Serve as a member of a leadership team.
- Work with evaluators to ensure data is gathered to reflect participant and program outcomes.
- Work with the NYS Community Schools Technical Assistance Center to map CCE/4-H and other land-grant programs.
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure broad access to 4-H before, after-school, and summer programming.
- Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations, and businesses.
- Transport program materials and resources as needed.
- Jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan with Supervisor.
- Collaborate in activities that support Cornell Cooperative Extension, including marketing and other duties as assigned.
- Support the association in maintaining a safe working environment.
- Be familiar with and strive to follow applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education (Associate’s Degree and 2 years of transferrable program/functional experience).
- Experience relevant to the role of the position.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements.
- Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
