About the Role
The Level II Registered Nurse is accountable for providing competent direct patient care based on established standards and contributes to unit activities and the enhancement of the care delivery system. This role supports peers, and may include charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide competent direct patient care based on established standards.
- Contribute to unit activities and support enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level.
- Support peers in the delivery of patient care services.
- Assume an expanded role which may include charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities.
- Provide expert nursing care in the Acute Care Clinic.
- Manage oncology and hematology patients requiring blood product administration, chemotherapy, evaluation and treatment of fever and neutropenia, and management of pain crisis.
- Perform comprehensive telephone triage and care management.
- Provide patient and family education.
- Participate in quality improvement, workflow optimization, and research initiatives.
- Partner closely with the Pediatric Infusion Center.
Requirements
- Previous pediatric experience, including chemotherapy administration, strongly preferred.
