About the Role

RSM is seeking a bilingual Assurance Supervisor to join their public sector assurance practice, serving governments, not-for-profit organizations, and foundations. This role offers the opportunity to help these organizations better achieve their missions and serve their constituents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, high-quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations.
  • Coordinate the auditing of all required financial statements, related disclosures, and other client deliverables.
  • Develop an understanding of the client's business and become an industry specialist.
  • Lead the team through the entire audit process, preparing financial statements, disclosures, and reportable conditions letters with a focus on quality, thoroughness, and accuracy.
  • Understand and utilize RSM’s Audit Methodology.
  • Supervise Audit Associates and Seniors, facilitating field work and monitoring productivity and adherence to schedules.
  • Anticipate and address client concerns, escalating issues as they arise.
  • Interact with clients to ensure efficient information flow.
  • Identify and communicate accounting and auditing matters to Managers and Partners.
  • Identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Recognize and inform management of opportunities to increase service offerings to clients.
  • Ensure professional development through ongoing education.
  • Willingness to travel 25% of the year, depending on clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline from an accredited University.
  • Active CPA license or demonstrated progress toward CPA licensure in province of residence.
  • 4+ years of recent assurance experience within a public accounting environment.
  • Bilingual in English and French.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, CASs or other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to apply relevant accounting and auditing standards.
  • Experience leading portions of audit engagements from planning through completion.
  • Experience reviewing workpapers and managing workflow across multiple engagements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff, including coaching, reviewing work, and providing performance feedback.
  • Proven ability to manage client communication and expectations, including escalating issues and supporting resolution.
  • Experience overseeing substantive testing, analytical procedures, and control testing, including documentation and evaluation of results.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic or written means.
  • Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and at client sites.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and work at a computer and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to work extended and/or non-standard hours during peak periods or as necessary.
  • Ability to maintain consistent, onsite presence during core business hours.
  • Ability to regularly report to a firm office location and travel to client sites as required.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
